Driving through the Atherton Tablelands - July 15

We drove on from Undara Gorge on the Kennedy Highway to the rolling hills of the Atherton Tablelands which reminded us nostalgically of Picton. We passed many sheep precarously perched on steep hills, encountered our first light showers since the start of the trip and had many opportunities to test out our new break controller. Thankfully, the temperature has been steadily climbing and now we were now in our summer gear and wearing shorts is becoming a regular occurrence as we approach 25 oC.

We camped outside Atherton in a free camp, near some tall grass where we were informed a python had been spotted earlier. I made sure the tend was zipped up that night!  We had a good feed with a home cooked Indian curry, some games of Uno which Jordan won and then it was off to bed. Tomorrow we head into Cape York country.
