Weipa - July 21

Roughly 200kms along "the best road on the Cape" and we were in the mining town of Weipa. Scored a caravan spot facing the beach, but before we could sit with a drink watching the sun set we had some chores to do.
The first class road to Weipa
Pests in the car
But first-a swim in the pool! Yes, we pulled down the cozzies from the roof bag and exposed the white flesh ( in my case that is) and went for a refreshing dip in the pool. Very civilised.

You know you've hit a big town when it has a Woollies! And we apparently worked our visit in with 'barge' day, so it was fully stocked! By the time we hit the registers it was packed with miners also doing their shop. I looked in vain for normal specials but full &/or inflated prices only. On a happy note we bought a tub of ice cream and divided it into 6 bowls on our return to camp. What a treat!

As the sun set, we walked onto the sand for the obligatory thousand photos, but were temporarily distracted by fire over our shoulders. A small fire truck had pulled up and was lighting the bushes on the edge between the caravan park and the beach!! As you do! We didn't know what to take a photo of!! What a sight-blazing trees & grass within metres of us!
Where's the snags?
After watching a dazzling sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria, Jordan cooked taco wraps for dinner.
