Cairns - August 1

In the morning we got to appreciate what a lovely caravan park Vin had picked for our extended stay in Cairns. We were thirty kms or so south of Cairns, at Fishery Falls - with lovely tropical gardens, our own quite fancy camp kitchen and private loo/shower block. And a decent price!

Relaxed in the morning then headed into town to explore after lunch. Walked around the centre of town before changing into our cozzies and swimming in the man-made lagoons. The beach front at Cairns was dredged for many years after WWII to handle boats coming in and out, and as a result Cairns lost its sand. They built these pools/lagoons to make up for it.

The weather is a very warm 28 degrees with high humidity - and its winter! Walked through the Night Markets and city streets once more before heading back to camp.

Carins Esplanade - note the lack of beach

What a smile!
